PDi: People Helping People

PDi: People Helping People
Carol Headshot

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebration, we’re publishing a special series of blogs throughout 2020. Each month you’ll see insights from a different member of the PDi team. Our goal is to bring you more fully into the PDi family. Our fourth blog in this series comes to you from a passionate and dedicated 20 year veteran of PDi, Carol Focht, Senior Customer Service Representative.

There are plenty of reasons PDi is a great place to work, but for me it’s certainly the friends I work with and the customers I get to help and interact with on a daily basis. During this extraordinary COVID-19 global pandemic, we stand ready to answer phones and help customers leverage the built-in features of existing or new PDi patient technology, designed and built for stringent hospital infection control standards. It is important to all of us at PDi to solve immediate needs for patient distraction, patient education and patient communication.

From dialysis providers needing to educate patients to keep them well and away from emergency rooms, to planning alternative hospital sites across communities, to the suffering hearts of friends and family of alienated residents at long-term skilled nursing home facilities, to telehealth solutions to keep all healthcare workers, patients and all of us safe during this time, our entire PDi family is here to help.

I am humbled by the heroic dedication and humanness portrayed by healthcare workers around the globe. I’ve been working at PDi for 20 years, and I can proudly state that our team is dedicated to doing our part to improve the patient experience. From the people on the manufacturing floor within the building to our customers, partners and vendors, we are laser-focused on serving people with sincerity. We are all in this together.

Thank you for allowing me this brief moment to pause, and to reflect on good times at work! We need to help take care of our co-workers and each other, stay positive and enjoy comic relief! Remember to please take time out to laugh a little more and to pause and reflect on your own good memories too!

Building Relationships

Over the years, we’ve hosted many distributor meetings, and I’ve greatly enjoyed meeting and getting to know so many of our supporters and partners. Between showing people around our plant and taking time to have some fun around the greater Cincinnati area, those events were always exciting. We especially enjoyed visiting the American Sign Museum during our 2016 meeting.

Trade shows are another place I’ve gotten to meet many prospects, customers and partners. Not only do my colleagues and I enjoy the trip together, we love being able to solve customer problems and share PDi’s solutions with those in the industry. Working for an innovative company means there’s always something new for us to share.

Fun and Games

Working at PDi means there are plenty of chances to break up the workday and have some extra fun at work. Back in 2015 we started the Wellness Program. Through this we promote all eight dimensions of wellness: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual. We host monthly wellness challenges, provide a salad bar two days each month and organize walks for our employees to encourage them along their physical wellness journey.

I have chaired the Wellness Program for a number of years, and it’s certainly one of the most fun parts of my job! My favorite part has to be our quarterly field days. We take time out of the work schedule to just have some plain fun, whether that’s outdoor games, trivia Bingo for intellectual wellness or minute-to-win-it fun!

Looking Ahead

PDi-40-years-logo-for-website-header2020 is such a special year for PDi, and I’m looking forward to continuing to celebrate our 40th Anniversary throughout the year. Any day at PDi is a great one if I get to be a part of the team to provide solutions that fulfill customer needs, address concerns and solve problems. That’s certainly the best part of my job.

For help with your COVID-19 project needs, feel free to email me directly at cfocht@pdiarm.com . Take care.
